Considering we’re in a time where people haven't been able to share the same space, Foundation year has brought an unexpected feeling of camaraderie. Things have been rough digitally, but with that chaos has come understanding, and a wonderfully open space for exploration.

It was an unexpectedly crazy year for me, but it turned out to be a good one. At ECU, I can be myself without any worries, and I can explore and experiment with any strange ideas. I'm on my way to becoming an artist. Thanks to my teachers and friends who helped me this year!

I appreciate all the faculty and student efforts to make an awesome and unique year. My studies have forced me out of my comfort zone and expanded my abilities to write academically, to articulate properly, and to create innovative projects. It has helped me grow as a student.
Nayla Chan
During my first year I learned that the art I create doesn't tend to have a deep meaning. My goal is simple, I wish to bring joy to people who view my work.

Foundation has given me an opportunity to look within myself. I've discovered who I am, what I'm interested in and what art is to me. It was such a memorable year, improving myself and my creativity.
